Hong Kong to be Emirates’ 11th destination

Hong Kong by Night © Hong Kong Tourism BoardOn October 1st Emirates will include Hong Kong in their A380 route network. The new A380 connection will be served on a daily basis with a stopover in Bangkok. The previous A380 destination Bangkok (EK472/473) will from then on be flown to with a Triple Seven. On August 12th Emirates received their 12th A380.

New destinations in September

Old Trafford Stadium Manchester © Visit BritainWith their fourth A380 Air France has included Paris-Tokyo in its route network. Take-off from Paris-Charles de Gaulle is at 1:30 p.m., return flight leaves Tokyo at 11:50 a.m. the following day.

On the same day Emirates offers a connection from Dubai to Manchester (photo), which makes Manchester A380 destination number 20 worldwide.

Also in September Lufthansa starts flying to Johannesburg. The originally scheduled date has been antedated from October 25th 2010 to September 12th at short notice.

Lufthansa launching ceremony end of July

Lufthansa A380 © Jens Görlich for LufthansaOn July 28th 2010 Lufthansa has officially named their 2nd A380 after Bavaria’s capital “Munich”. The launching ceremony took place in the morning, followed by two 90-minutes scenic flights crossing the Alps. Admission to the airport’s Visitors Hill was free of charge that day. There were also bus-roundtrips from the airport’s Visitors Park to the A380. Lufthansa uses their first two A380s to serve Tokyo.
